The Du Boisson Dance Foundation (DBDF) is committed to training and educating young people who are passionate about dance and who have the potential to achieve the arduous goal of performance, irrespective of their ability to pay.

The DBDF supports both its full time school, the Young Dancers Charitable Academy (YDA) and the part time school, the West London School of Dance (WLSD).

YDA students come from all over the country, many starting their career at WLSD. All students at both schools have the opportunity to perform in school shows, staged in London West End theatres, and several are currently performing in West End Musicals. The full time students at YDA are given a full vocational training and a first rate academic education with the school receiving an Outstanding in All Areas from Ofsted in 2013.

Many of the full time students subsequently fulfil their ambition to become professional classical dancers, going on to train with the world’s top ballet schools such as The Royal Ballet School, the English National Ballet School, Elmhurst and the Central School of Ballet, all of whom recognise the exceptional quality of the training the students have received during their time at YDA and WLSD.

Full or partial bursaries are available to help those with enthusiasm and potential and who come from financially difficult backgrounds, on a means tested basis. About half of the students at the YDA are on a partial or full scholarship and the DBDF is delighted to be able to offer the gift of a happy and fulfilling future to a significant number of pupils from underprivileged backgrounds.

The DBDF is also committed to its work within the community promoting dance and related performance arts for both adults and children alike.
